A Glimpse into

What I Do

I specialize in guiding clients through their unique healing journeys by integrating somatic therapy and trauma healing techniques. My approach combines ancient and modern practices to address stress and trauma in the body, focusing on regulation, boundary work, mindfulness, and other therapeutic techniques. I honor the various phases of healing and aim to inspire the process, helping individuals listen to their intuition and enhance their well-being, self-awareness, and embodiment. My role is to guide clients on the right course for their unique paths. It is not to fix them. I am at their side shining light and offering direction through the journey. I realize that most emotional pain doesn’t lift immediately, so I honor and hold space for the different phases of healing. My job is to inspire the process and help you listen to the wisdom of your own intuition along the way.

Please note that I don’t offer sessions focused on specific modalities of your choosing. Instead, I incorporate different approaches as needed during our time together. There’s no set agenda or plan; we simply allow the flow to come naturally and work at our bodies’ pace.

Somatic Therapy

Our primary way of experiencing the world is through sensing our whole body. “Somatics” encompasses practices that connect us with this living body, helping us embody our true selves and realize our full potential. It is the most primal form of communication, guiding our thoughts, feelings, and actions. SOMA means “the living body,” and SOMATICS refers to practices that engage in dialogue with the living body.

To embody means to manifest—to make visible, tangible, and real.
EMBODIMENT is the process of realizing each aspect of our self by fully inhabiting our bodies and integrating physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and awareness, while feeling and experiencing our connection to the whole.
It emphasizes being present and recognizing how our physical experiences influence our mental and emotional states.

Modalities

Self-Regulation Training (SRT)

Self-Regulation Training (SRT), developed by Dr. Regalena Melrose, is a holistic approach designed to help individuals manage stress and anxiety by harnessing the body’s natural ability to recover. SRT fosters the development of new neural pathways, transforming rage and helplessness into empowerment, peace, and resilience. This transformation enhances the ability to handle future stress and trauma. By creating empowering experiences, SRT leads to improved emotional and behavioral choices. The method combines somatic experiencing with psychological techniques to create lasting change. It involves, but is not limited to: regulating the nervous system, recognizing and understanding physical sensations, using targeted techniques to process and release stored trauma, completing incomplete behaviors, developing new and healthier patterns of thought and behavior, and creating healthy boundaries.

Accupressure

Acupressure is a gentle, non-invasive therapy based on principles from traditional Chinese medicine. It involves applying pressure to specific points on the body, known as acupoints, to stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and restore balance. Similar to acupuncture, but without needles, acupressure uses the fingers, palms, or elbows to apply pressure, helping to relieve tension, reduce pain, and improve overall well-being.
By targeting these key points, acupressure can enhance the flow of energy, or “qi,” through the body, which is believed to support physical and emotional health. It’s commonly used to address a variety of issues, including stress, headaches, and muscle pain, and can be easily incorporated into your wellness routine for a holistic approach to health. Although I am certified I do not offer dedicated sessions for this therapy. Instead, I integrate the knowledge and techniques I’ve gained from this certification into my therapeutic practice as needed, enhancing the overall support I provide in my sessions.

Somatic Parts Work (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as composed of various distinct “parts,” each with its own roles and perspectives. Fran D. Booth’s Somatic Parts Work integrates somatic practices with IFS to facilitate profound personal transformation. While IFS helps individuals identify and understand these parts, address internal conflicts, and foster harmony within their psyche, Somatic Parts Work guides clients in connecting with various aspects of their identities through body awareness, highlighting how emotions and experiences manifest physically.

By connecting with the core, compassionate Self, and facilitating dialogue between these parts, clients can address internal conflicts, process trauma, and cultivate self-acceptance with compassion and awareness. Together, these methods create a pathway to greater harmony within both the psyche and soma, helping individuals heal past wounds and transform unhelpful patterns, ultimately leading to improved emotional well-being and personal growth.

Additional Certifications

Somatic Trauma Training

Integrative Somatic Trauma Training (ISTT), developed by The Embody Lab, offers insights into how the body interacts with various wounds and healing processes. It combines talk therapy with body awareness to help individuals reconnect and resolve trauma at a somatic level. ISTT guides clients from dysregulation to balance, empowering them to reclaim their sense of self. This holistic approach recognizes trauma’s impact on the mind, body, and spirit, revealing their body’s innate wisdom.

Sound Therapy

Sound and vibrational Therapy is a therapeutic practice that uses various sound frequencies and vibrations to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This approach involves using tools like tuning forks, singing bowls, gongs, or the human voice to create specific vibrations that resonate with the body’s energy fields. The principle behind this healing method is that everything in the universe, including our bodies, is in a constant state of vibration.

Somatic Wounds

In Peter Levine’s course on somatic wounds, we explored the connection between trauma and the body. We learned how unresolved trauma manifests as physical and emotional symptoms, and the importance of body awareness. Levine emphasized mindfulness techniques to help reconnect with sensations and release stored trauma. The course provided practical tools for healing and enhancing resilience, promoting a holistic understanding of somatic wounds.
